Why we don’t sell formaldehyde preserved products

Although the short-term health effects of formaldehyde exposure are well known (i.e) can result in respiratory symptoms, and eye, nose, and throat irritation, less is known about its potential long-term health effects.

In 1980, laboratory studies showed that exposure to formaldehyde could cause nasal cancer in rats. This finding raised the question of whether formaldehyde exposure could also cause cancer in humans. In 1987, the U.S.

Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) classified formaldehyde as a probable human carcinogen under conditions of unusually high or prolonged exposure.

Since that time, some studies of humans have suggested that formaldehyde exposure is associated with certain types of cancer. The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) classifies formaldehyde as a human carcinogen.

Advantages of none preserved products

We believe that our products are far superior to any preserved ones as they can be dissected in a totally natural state and are not affected by any chemical change. They do not have a strong odour, so won’t put off any sensitive students.

Our Clients

We have clients all over the UK. With places such as schools, colleges, universities, laser eye labs and vets, we make sure we provide them with the best service and ensure a reliable delivery system to make sure they receive the products on time.

Why we do

At Dissect we have over 10 year’s experience of serving schools and universities in the West Midlands area to dissection products, with the intention of increasing the availability of difficult to source products.

We have now expanded the company to the internet so we can meet the need of schools, colleges, universities and vets throughout the country. We specialise in different types of fresh animal products for dissection.

Our aim is to help reduce the problems associated with sourcing different items for dissection and we will go the extra mile to source anything you need that we don’t usually stock.

Orders are sent by UPS next day courier service, with a maximum delivery time of between seven to ten working days from the time you place your order. If you require a delivery service other than the one offered please email Dissect.co.uk to see if an alternative is available.

Testimonials

“I am a veterinary ophthalmologist based at Willows Referral Service in Solihull. In order to perform surgical training and to practice new intraocular procedures we use ovine (pig) eyes from Dissect Supplies which are of a very good quality. In order to maximise the corneal clarity vital to perform intraocular surgery these eyes have specifically not been through the \’scalding\’ process at the abattoir. The service we get from Dissect Supplies is excellent and Steve Hems is always highly professional and easy to deal with.”
